What is a zero-point positioning system and how does it work?+
A zero-point system gives every machine and station one common reference point. A pull stud on the workpiece or pallet drops into a locator that mechanically clamps it with spring force and releases pneumatically. The part is located and locked in seconds, always returning to the same position.
How much setup time can zero-point positioning save?+
Traditional dial-indicator alignment can take 15 – 60 minutes per setup. A zero-point interface reduces that to seconds because the pallet self-locates. For high-mix, low-volume shops this typically pays back within months through higher spindle utilization.
What repeat positioning accuracy can I expect?+
Our zero-point locators hold repeat positioning accuracy below 0.005 mm, and maintain it after tens of thousands of clamping cycles thanks to hardened, sealed components.
How do I choose between a fixed 90° and an adjustable angle head?+
Fixed 90° heads offer the highest rigidity and lowest runout for side milling and cross drilling. Adjustable (0 – 90°) heads trade a little stiffness for the flexibility to reach compound angles. If your features are all at 90°, choose fixed; if angles vary, choose adjustable.
Which shank interfaces are available for angle heads?+
We supply BT30, BT40 and BT50, plus HSK and CAT on request. Collet options run from ER8 to ER32, with side-lock versions for high-torque cutters. Tell us your spindle taper and we match the head.
Can angle head milling cutters run through-coolant?+
Yes. Both internal (through-tool) and external coolant options are available depending on the model, keeping the cutting zone cool during deep side milling, drilling and tapping.
What is a checking fixture and how is it different from a gauge?+
A checking fixture (CF) recreates a part's datum reference frame so dimensions can be verified quickly on the shop floor. A functional gauge checks specific features (a hole position or profile) with go / no-go elements. We supply both, built by our manufacturing partners to your drawing.
How do you build a gauge from a GD&T drawing?+
We start from your GD&T and datum scheme, constrain the part exactly as defined, then add go / no-go pins, profile details and CMM-ready reference points where the drawing calls for them. Each gauge ships with a calibration report and, where required, an R&R study.
What are your typical lead times?+
Standard catalog components usually ship from stock or within a short lead time. Custom fixtures and gauges depend on complexity; we confirm a firm schedule after reviewing your drawings.
Do you offer custom or OEM fixtures?+
Yes. From modified catalog parts to fully engineered, application-specific fixtures, we supply to your process — built by our manufacturing partners. Send a STEP / IGES model or 2D drawing and our engineers will propose a solution.
What file formats do you accept for custom work?+
We work from 3D models (STEP, IGES, X_T) and 2D drawings (PDF, DWG, DXF). A GD&T-dimensioned drawing is ideal for inspection fixtures.
Do products come with inspection or calibration reports?+
Yes. Precision components can be supplied with dimensional inspection reports, and checking fixtures include calibration reports with optional GR&R studies for production measurement.
Ordering & trade terms
- What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
- Standard catalog items start from 1 piece. For non-standard / custom parts, the MOQ is agreed on a case-by-case basis.
- Do you offer samples?
- We don't keep dedicated samples. If you need a small quantity to evaluate, it is supplied at the regular unit price; that cost is non-refundable and cannot be offset against a later order.
- What are your payment terms?
- Standard items: full payment with the order. Non-standard / custom items: 50% deposit, with the balance settled before shipment. T/T and L/C accepted.
- What is the warranty?
- One-year warranty on our products. Damage caused by misuse or improper handling is not eligible for return or exchange.
- What is your lead time?
- Standard items are mostly in stock and ship in about 3 days (some require assembly). For non-standard items, lead time is confirmed per order.
