Angle head milling cutters redirect the spindle's rotation to a new axis, letting a 3-axis machine reach features that would otherwise require a second operation or a 5-axis machine. The right choice depends on the geometry, the torque required, and the shank interface of your machine.
Fixed 90° heads offer the highest rigidity and lowest runout, making them ideal for side milling and cross drilling. Adjustable heads trade a little stiffness for the flexibility to hit compound angles between 0 and 90 degrees.
For repetitive hole patterns, a multi-spindle or aggregate head can drill or tap several holes at once, dramatically shortening cycle time on production parts.
